This update - April 8th 2008

I am sitting here looking out from my little portable studio in Canada at the huge mountains of snow still dominating the view, tweaking and re arranging the list of songs I am going to perform on my German tour which starts of Friday. I find the whole process either fun or depressing. Fun because I get to hear recordings I haven't listened to for years and depressing for the same reason. Sometimes I can't get my head back to where it was when they were recorded but I have to do it otherwise I cant remember them.

I have just finished recording a new C.D. A compilation of other people's songs I have promised to do since 1982. It consists of song that moulded my sense of melody and atmosphere, which still permeates my own writing today. If you make judgement on the strength and quality of the song and not make comparisons the original I think it works really well. Some people will find the choice of material a little strange but there is no doubting the writing standard of all is really high.

I have strived to make my own, different interpretations of these and am more than satisfied they have been well and truly Midged. They represent a period in my life where music wasn't categorised as cool or crap, it was just music. So if anyone finds some of the songs cheesy or middle of the road, it probably because they are!

The new material is coming along nicely and I hope to have it completed by the end of the year. / early next year.... I think it will be well worth the wait.

This last year has been one of learning and adventure, trials and tribulation, exploring life and self. It has helped me focus on what is important to me in life and in music and I hope the new work you will soon be hearing will reflect that.
