A page with some occasional messages, photos, and probably the odd rant. This update - December 15th 2007
"Where has the
year gone"? Statements that for
years I have vowed never to use under any circumstances absolutely
never. I really think I've been conned out of a month or two from the 2007 calendar, or at the very least a couple of the longer weeks of the year. Its just gone. Again !I distinctly remember telling the lovely people at Hypertension Records that the new album/C.D./Download/cassette thing would be ready for release in the Spring/Summer/Autumn of 2007 and somehow, it's not. I'm still working on it. I am sure if I was whisked back in a time machine to my youth and woke up 20 again, I could not only have finished the aforesaid musings but rattled off a couple of other music projects, built a newer and better time machine, rattled off a ceiling in the Sistine Chapel and saved at least a handful of species from extinction and still had a few months left to plan next years activities.

I don't subscribe to the 'slowing down gracefully' theory. It just doesn't wash. The work load this year has been pretty full on, starting with the 'Celebrity Masterchef' stuff which we started filming in January where everything was fine until I kept getting through to the next round and still had to fulfill live performance commitments which meant I had to throw down the 'pinnie', get on a fast motorbike to the airport and fly to the other end of the country in time to get on stage , do my thing and get in the waiting car at the end of the show to be whisked back to London in time to start the filming process all over again. I said I would do the 'celebrity' thing only if I could learn something, and I did. Dont become a Chef.
In the summer I was presented with an honorary degree from the University of Paisley to add to the others I have from Abertay and Edinburgh. No jokes about the 3 Degrees. There have been numerous Motivational Speaking events, a large Save The Children event in London with Annie Lennox in June , and a wealth of acoustic shows and T.V. shows to keep me occupied. Then the time taken to prepare for the trip to Canada and the settling in , as well as the endless hours shopping and looking at door handles and lamp shades has to be taken into consideration.

The recording has now taken on 'mythical' proportions with the amount of time I have been working on it, but if I may say so myself, it is shaping up to be a cracker. Moving onwards and hopefully ever upwards. I hope it will be worth the wait. Sometimes the best
things that can happen to you are the surprises. The unplanned.
The unexpected. This came in the form of a 'long lost' recording
of a concert I remember well but can't recall ever hearing. It
was a handful of days before Christmas 1985. Band Aid were number
one and there was something wonderful in the air. This recording
captures something quite special. It took me back to that period the way only music can and I hope it does the same to you.
So I find myself sitting in an airport lounge in Philadelphia with only a handful of days till Christmas, pondering over the last 12 months and coming to the conclusion that albeit a short one its been a good year. I hope it has for you as well. Have a great Christmas and 'slightly longer please' New Year. Cheers
